About

I believe that we are in a constant state of evolution and that the things we experience shape our next steps but the passion we feel inside remains constant. In how we pursue that passion is where the experiences lay.

About My Background

My passion for traveling and experiencing new cultures set me on a path toward International Management during my undergraduate degree, in which I learned about management practices in the ever-changing global environment. Next, I embarked on a career in the public service and learned a lot about government practices and decision-making, public administration and management, and policy development and implementation.

This is where the fun started as I began engaging with First Nations and Aboriginal peoples on issues of policy, development and advocacy. I began to understand in a practical, first-hand way the importance of relationship-building and diplomacy at the domestic level. I engaged with various levels of government and across numerous government departments to address the issues that directly affect the lives of Canada’s First peoples, who have been referred to as “Canada’s 3rd world population”.

About Me Now

But my passion for all things international continued to speak to me and I decided it was time to marry the two. I have now embarked on a new academic path. In January I moved to London, UK to pursue graduate studies in International Relations from Hult International Business School. This truly global university has campuses in Boston, San Francisco, London, Dubai and Shanghai and brings together students and faculty from all corners of the globe.

The exchange between and among students and professors about important current issues such as climate change and the environment, the Palestine-Israel conflict, nuclear proliferation and Iran, the global economy and China take on new meanings and perspectives as I engage in discussions with people from these regions about the impacts of these issues on their daily lives. I am learning about decision-making in foreign policy, engaging in ethical debates about human rights, assessing political risks of current issues, while tracing the current state of affairs back in time to the origins of the Cold War and its affects in shaping world order and foreign policy.

About My Future Pursuits

I do not know what lays ahead for me upon completing this degree in December 2010. I aim to apply my skills and new found knowledge in a practical way in the field of International Aid and Development and Human Rights, with a specific focus on women’s issues and human trafficking.  I believe it is important to plan ahead and have a vision of where I see myself in the future, but I also believe that it is equally important to experience  the present. Living and studying abroad in a culturally diverse city like London is worth living, not just living through. As I take steps forward, I do so with confidence and faith in knowing that I am on a path dictated by my passion.
